2023 RDH Harvest

This year's harvest was different to say the least. The Syrah and Grenache were a few weeks late (early October) due to the cool spring and early summer, but the harvest was full, and sufficient to produce more than a barrel of these two grapes alone. The Cinsaut, Mourvedre, and Carignane, on the other hand, were more delayed and did not get harvested until early November! Nonetheless, the harvest was robust with more than a barrel for these grapes, although only half of the Cinsaut were harvested at that time. As a result, 2023 will have up to 3 different wines made: A full blend of all 5 grapes in the usual proportions like previous harvests, and either blends with exclusively Grenache/Syrah and Cinsaut/Mourvedre/Carignane, or varied compositions emphasizing one or another of the separately vilified barrels. Should be interesting! In addition, I'm making a Cinsaut Rose' from the other half of the grapes that were not harvested until November 24th. We'll see how that goes.
